Live literature night Verbose is back on Monday 27 June, with a special celebration of very short stories, to coincide with National Flash-Fiction Day, plus the usual open mic of prose and poetry performances – sign up for a three-minute slot by emailing verbosemcr at gmail dot com.
Our headliners this month are all champions of the flash fiction form (or micro fiction, short-short stories, smokelong, etc etc – basically tales that have a limited wordcount but still pack a big punch). We’ll hear from Joe Daly, host of Bad Language, Ingrid Jendrzejewski, first place in the Bath Flash Fiction Award, second place in the National Flash-Fiction Day 100-word story competition and winner of the Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival, and Simon Sylvester, who has won competitions and short-short story slams run by the FlashTag collective and beyond.
Verbose is hosted by Sarah-Clare Conlon at Fallow café, 2a Landcross Road, Fallowfield, M14 6NA. It’s free entry and doors are at 7.30pm.
